Gwanda State University has been hailed by the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on
Higher and Tertiary Education Innovation Science and Technology Development for its
sterling performance towards agro-based industrialisation, a development in-line with the
implementation of Education 5.0 philosophy.
The delegation led by its Chairperson Honourable Thokozani Khuphe alongside with the
Vice-Chancellor Professor DZ Moyo and University management visited an array of projects
under the University’s Agro-Innovation Hub and Industrial Park. They toured the thriving
Insingadale Farm, cattle pens, layers fowl run and goat pens.
The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee applauded the institution’s efforts in addressing
challenges and proffering solutions around livestock rearing and irrigation farming towards
the betterment of the communities and the nation at large.
The Committee encouraged institutions of higher learning like Gwanda State University to be
very productive in order to attain self-sustainability.
The visit by the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee is an initiative by government to gain
first hand insights on the achievements and challenges faced by the institutions of tertiary
education as they contribute towards the Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development.
