Gwanda — Gwanda State University yesterday extended its outreach programme to Gwanda High School, where it participated in a Career Exhibition aimed at equipping learners with critical information on academic pathways and future career opportunities.
The exhibition, held at the invitation of the school’s headmaster, Mr Arthur Maphosa, brought together learners from Form One through to Upper Six, creating a broad platform for early and advanced career guidance.
The engagement forms part of Gwanda State University’s ongoing efforts to bridge the information gap between secondary education and tertiary institutions by providing learners with first-hand insight into University education.

At the GSU exhibition stand, learners were introduced to the University’s academic programmes, entry requirements and the diverse career prospects linked to each field of study. The interactive nature of the session allowed students to ask detailed questions, particularly around subject combinations required for specific degree programmes and the application process.
University representatives guided learners on how to align their subject choices with their desired career paths, while also outlining the procedures for applying to Gwanda State University, ensuring that prospective students are well-prepared ahead of their transition to higher education.
Learners, especially those in upper forms, showed keen interest in understanding how their current studies influence their eligibility for various programmes, with many taking the opportunity to seek clarity on admission requirements and career outcomes.
The Career Exhibition provided a valuable platform for direct engagement, reinforcing the importance of informed decision-making among learners at different stages of their academic journey.
Through such initiatives, Gwanda State University continues to play a proactive role in supporting career guidance and counselling in schools, while strengthening its relationship with the local community and inspiring the next generation of University students.
