Nketa, BulawayoGwanda State University on Friday joined several institutions at a Career Fair hosted by Nketa High School, where it engaged hundreds of learners on higher education opportunities and future career pathways. The Career Fair brought together learners from four schools — Nketa High School, Mgwanwini High School, Maranatha High School and Tropical Vineyard College — with at least 340 students attending the event.

The outreach formed part of Gwanda State University’s continued engagement with high schools to provide learners with information on university education, available academic programmes and the skills required in today’s evolving job market. At the GSU exhibition stand, learners interacted with University representatives who took them through the institution’s programmes, entry requirements and the various professions they can pursue after completing their studies. The engagement was led by a Geomatics and Surveying Lecturer, alongside two member of the Information, Marketing and Public Relations Department, who guided learners through what studying at Gwanda State University entails.

Learners took the opportunity to ask questions about admission requirements, programme offerings and the practical skills they would gain through the University’s learning model, which combines academic study with innovation and production in line with Zimbabwe’s Education 5.0 framework.

The Career Fair also attracted several other stakeholders including National University of Science and Technology, Bulawayo Polytechnic College, Zimbabwe Red Cross Society, Zimbabwe Republic Police, FBC Bank, Hamara, and Beauty Therapy College, giving students exposure to a wide range of professional fields. In her closing remarks, the Nketa High School headmistress Mrs Levhuwani Muchemedzi thanked the institutions for taking time to engage with the learners.“We are grateful to our various partners who have managed to come and spend their day with us and speak to our students during this career fair,” she said. “We hope that this relationship may continue to grow as we host more of these career fairs.”

Through such engagements, Gwanda State University continues to strengthen its outreach initiatives, ensuring that prospective students are equipped with the information needed to make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures.
