GSU Conducts Non-Teaching Staff Induction to Strengthen Institutional Efficiency

 

GwandaGwanda State University on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive Non-Teaching Staff Induction Training Programme aimed at equipping employees with the knowledge, structures and professional standards required to effectively support the institution’s mandate.

 

Held at the University’s Recreation Centre, the full-day training ran from 0830 to 1600 hours and brought together non-teaching staff for a structured orientation covering key operational, administrative and professional areas.

 

The programme began with registration facilitated by the Human Resources Office, followed by an official opening led by the Registrar, Mr E Mupfiga. Participants were then taken through introductions before engaging in sessions focused on the university’s organogram and chain of command, as well as the code of conduct, setting the tone for institutional alignment and accountability.

 

The core of the induction, included Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) issues, tenure and performance contracting, and an overview of the Employee Handbook, all designed to ensure that staff clearly understand their roles, responsibilities and performance expectations.

 

Further sessions addressed communication within the institution, with the Information, Marketing and Public Relations Office outlining internal and external communication protocols, while the Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs) facilitated a session on sexual harassment, reinforcing the university’s commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful working environment.

 

Following a lunch break, the programme resumed with a session on quality assurance, led by the Director of Quality Assurance, highlighting the importance of maintaining standards across all university operations.

 

The training concluded with a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to engage directly with facilitators, before closing with a vote of thanks.

 

The induction programme underscores Gwanda State University’s commitment to building a professional, well-informed and cohesive workforce, ensuring that all staff are aligned with the institution’s values, systems and strategic direction.
